M&M Project Update: We’re Moving Forward!

Mission & Maintenance fund drive continues

Unruh, Tammy Duvanel

July 10, 2023

The M&M Project is moving forward as money is given and is pledged to be given by faithful supporters of Camp Mennoscah!

As of this writing, Camp Mennoscah has received more than $47,000 toward our goal! What a blessing you and your gifts have been to Camp! We are almost halfway to the $100,000 our donor is offering to match!

Now is the time to join the effort. If you haven't taken any action yet, we are sure you will want to be in on this opportunity to continue our Mission at Camp - to be a place where all can renew themselves, their relationships, and their connection with God through Jesus Christ.

M&M Project Fundraising Events

We are planning two major ways for people to give money for the M&M project. First, we’ve asked churches who are supporters of Camp Mennoscah to put together a fundraising event this year that would specifically benefit the M&M Project.

In early July, Camp Mennoscah received a substantial donation with an accompanying letter. From that letter: “Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro,KS closed its doors on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. It was decided to take the leftover funds in our bank account and divide them between agencies we have supported in the past. Each individual member got to choose where their portion of the money would go. Therefore, we are pleased to send you this check for $4,384.68 on their behalf. Thank you for your ministry of providing faith formation experiences for all your campers, young and old. We hope this gift may be used to boost your M&M project.”

What an honor it is for Camp to have been a part of Trinity’s legacy! Thanks so much for thinking of us as you went through this difficult time, and our thoughts are with you all as you transition to other church families.

Other events are being planned by local churches for the later summer and fall. We will keep you updated on our Facebook page and on our website. In fact, Camp and and will help churches with events by providing help in planning and ideas, helping with advertising and announcements to get the word out, and providing any programing and presentations about camp that a church might desire to have as part of their fundraiser. Don’t be afraid to ask!

Fire Keepers

The M&M Project is also being funded through monthly pledges. We are looking to see 100 “giving units” give $1000 each by the end of 2023.  Giving units, called “Fire Keepers,” can be  churches,  Sunday School classes, families, Youth Groups, Small Groups, Women’s or Men’s Groups, individuals - whoever wants to pledge money to make sure this generous gift is honored by matching the funds.

At this time, there are almost 50 Fire Starters who have pledged to or have already given $1000. Many families have donated, as well as churches and Sunday School classes.

Watch this space for more information about the M&M Project, including the amount that has been raised and a list of Fire Keepers!
