April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April 01, 2021

Camp Mennoscah believes camp should be a safe place for everyone and is committed to preventing abuse.  Every year, all staff and volunteers involved in summer youth camps have annual background checks (including sex offenders registry) run, reference checks followed up on, and Abuse Prevention training is required.  These steps help to reduce the risk of abuse and misconduct and have been in place for over a decade.

Camp Mennoscah remains dedicated to supporting victims and survivors of abuse.  Incidents disclosed to Camp Mennoscah will be reported to the proper authorities.  If you have experienced abuse or any concerning incident, please contact Executive Director Olivia Bartel or Board of Directors President Renetta Gooden and/or the proper authority.  For incidents involving persons under age 18, contact the Kansas Protection Report Center at 1-800-922-5330 and for persons over age 18, law enforcement.
